This Hilton Head family session was special in SO many ways!! We first met Emily a few years ago at a conference from afar! I can’t even remember if I introduced myself, but always had the biggest respect for her and all she does. When she reached out saying her family was heading to Hilton Head and needed some family photos (especially since their family has grown!), we were THRILLED!

A dress that is long, flowy, and goes in at some point in the waist photographs SO well, and allows for a lot of creativity on photos! We do love shorter, fitted dresses as well, and often our couples bring both!

This engagement session at Oldfield Golf Course and Belfare was the perfect setting to preserve Courtney & Josh’s love story! Courtney and Josh have been together for 12 years! They first met at a golf tournament, and when Courtney saw him, and she immediately knew that she had to get to know him more! They currently live in Bluffton but are building their dream home in Beufort on the same lot where Josh proposed to Courtney! Seriously the sweetest story!!! They even brought their two adorable pups with them for the photos as well!

To start out there session we began at Oldfield Golf Course, where Josh works, and then headed to Bellfare to finish up their engagement photos!! It was only fitting to photograph their engagement session at a golf course, similar to how they first met! Joanah & Andrew’s engagement session at North Carolina Arboretum was SO stunning!!! Joanah and Andrew are both Navy Officers and first met in Sasebo, Japan while they were stationed there in 2016. They’ve been together for four years, and are excited to have their wedding this summer!

They originally planned a trip to Peru to hike Machu Picchu; however, plans did not go as planned… So they decided to go to San Francisco and drive to Yosemite for New Years instead. They got engaged in San Francisco, CA overlooking the Embarcadero Bridge at NYE. In Joanah’s words, “Literally starting our New Year with a bang!!” While it wasn’t their original plan for their engagement, Joanah stated, “But God always has a plan and when it’s the perfect time it does not matter where you are- what matters is that moment!” And I couldn’t agree more!!

I am SO excited to have the opportunity to document their wedding at Chestnut Ridge!! Joanah and Andrew are such a beautiful couple, and I quickly fell in love with their positive personalities which will make their special day even more wonderful! You can see the love they have for each other just shining through their smiles!

It was such a joy to be a part of Brian and Crisel’s downtown Greenville proposal!!! They both traveled from Chicago to Greenville for their proposal, and Crisel had no idea about the surprise awaiting her! Edward and I off to the distance while they came to the spot! It was a rainy Christmas Eve, but the open Wyche Pavilion on the river was perfect for them. They stopped to stare out at the river, and then Brian proposed!!

This downtown Charleston anniversary session was FULL of all of my favorite things!!! My favorite Southern city, puppies, and the absolute SWEETEST couple! Cambron and Elliott live in Charleston where Cambron is a successful real estate agent. They first met in Nashville, and it was connection at first sight! Now they have two beautiful pups, and they wanted photos of their little family of four all together in downtown Charleston. Little Philberta had just joined their family days before their session! Isn’t she just the most precious thing?!

Cambron and Elliott were a stunning couple to photograph, and their little family is simply the cutest! Y’all know how much I adore having pups in our sessions, and I was just so impressed with how well these two did! Cambron’s heart for details is evident from their outfits all the way down to the dog’s collars, which truly made their session stunning! This Hotel Domestique anniversary session is a favorite!! I went to college with Guy & Elise, but didn’t get to know them well! And I’m SO glad we reconnected!!! Amy & Justin had their anniversary session at Boone Hall and downtown Charleston! It was the perfect way to preserve this time for them! They come every year from Washington to ensure they’re celebrating their marriage and time away together! We LOVE these two!! We secretly wanted to spend the rest of their vacation with them but decided to give them some space!

We started at Boone Hall Plantation which is one of our favorite places to shoot! After this we headed downtown to finish up! This downtown Greenville maternity session was so special to photograph. We’ve been friends with Shane since high school, and reconnected a couple years ago at a mutual friend’s wedding! We quickly loved getting to know Michelle more, and our friendship was immediate!

She quickly became a close friend of mine, and a fellow boss babe!! She has her own successful marketing company, and is already a mama to one! Now their second boy is due soon!! I was able to photograph her first pregnancy as well, and was THRILLED when they reached out about maternity portraits for baby boy number 2!

This newborn session will give you all the baby fever!! I first met Kristen way back when she was part of another wedding I photographed (looking at you, Kayla and Dylan!)! This downtown Greenville engagement session at the Rock Quarry was all things romantic and dreamy! Their story began in high school chemistry class!! Needless to say, Kaylee & Joseph have been waiting years for this time to come! They made it through even going to different schools for college, and it just made them stronger! We loved having their engagement session recently!!!

I freaked out a little when Kaylee sent me a picture of her first dress! It’s the same one I wore to our engagement session!!! Thank you, Lulu’s! We send a style guide to all of our clients helping them through outfit choices, and even where to shop! And Kaylee and Joseph looked like they walked out of a magazine!! These two are amazing!!!

This engaement session at The Cliffs at Glassy was a dream! These two first met when Jordan came home to find Brandon there hanging out with her roommate and her roommate’s boyfriend! They later connected even more! Now they’re planning their dream day at Chestnut Ridge, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to be part of it!!

When brainstorming out engagement session locations, we settled on The Cliffs! And goodness, it was perfect! We had a clear sky, and a beautiful sunset. They came all the way from Charlotte for this, and what a DREAM! Haley is a DREAM bride!!! I fell in love with her during our first phone call to see if we’d be a good fit! She booked us and I have been counting down the days to her Edinburgh West wedding (in the SNOW!)! Before her wedding, we slipped in her bridal portraits at Hotel Domestique!!

Haley is one of those people that makes you feel so loved!! She is so kind and caring, and we made sure that she knew this was HER time!! I’m so glad I got to photograph her bridal portraits- it’s so wonderful to see the complete look all together before the day! I kept telling her that Dylan is going to be a MESS when he sees her! She is a FLAWLESS bride!!!

She had her two best friends, Mom, and aunt come help- and they were AMAZING!! We couldn’t have gotten some of these EPIC shots without their help! I even shared a behind the scenes photo on how we got one of my FAVORITE images ever!!

Matt and Meredith’s Greenville, SC family session was SO perfect!! Matt and Meredith are extremely talented videographers (Matt and Meredith Films) and we LOVE working with them! We’ve been able to refer brides back and forth- which makes it wonderful to get to work with vendors we love over and over!! We’ve gotten to know them as friends, and were thrilled when they had baby Grey this year! He is just too cute! So a family session had to happen!

We actually had the session at one of my favorite venues- The Barn at Sitton Hill Farm! We love how many places for photos this venue offers, so the open area was perfect to really capture the emotion of this beautiful, joyful family!

If you’ve been following along the past months, you know what a fan I am of Brittany!! Since she’s MARRIED I can finally share her bridal portrait session! We LOVE getting to do bridal portraits for our brides! It’s a great “trial run” of wearing the dress a bit to make sure everything feels right, the perfect time for the hair and makeup trial, and a lot of photos in the dress of your dreams! Spending this extra time with Brittany before the wedding day was so wonderful. We love her, and loved getting to know her mom and grandparents more since they came to help! She literally was perfect in her dress, and had us all in awe the whole session!!

This is one of the classiest downtown Greenville engagement sessions I’ve gotten to photograph!! I first met Cynthia & Matthew around 4 years ago!! I got to photograph their family, but now this was their time! They are engaged and planning the wedding of their dreams in Mexico! What a joy to get to photograph their engagement session!

Since they have a destination wedding, we loved the idea of having a travel theme! Cynthia did such a great job incorporating this into the session with some vintage suitcases, and the most darling white dress! I need to go online and buy everything she wore since this girl knows style! We started with a simple background to really showcase the couple together, and then went into Falls Park for a picnic setting!

There, they popped the champagne, and seriously look like they walked out of a magazine!! I just adore Cynthia and Matthew. They are two of the kindest people you’ll meet! You’d never know it was in the 90’s during their session! They didn’t complain once, but instead just enjoyed their session to the fullest and goodness, I’m obsessed with it!

It was such a gift to photograph Angie & Dave’s Greenville, SC family session! This was my 4th time getting to photograph this couple! They were one of my FIRST couples to book a wedding, and I still remember the day so well! They were one of the nicest couples I had ever met, and have a special place in my heart. When I see my beginning clients, I always try to remind them how grateful I am for them. Without them believing in me even when I was new to photography, I wouldn’t have been able to go full time with it and have it as a job now! What a special gift to get to serve this couple years after their wedding day!

AND what a gift to get to meet their little girl, Alex!! She has so much personality and is SO happy and sweet!!! I’ll admit I maybe had a little bit of baby fever after photographing her! They are the sweetest family! I photographed Angie when she was pregnant with Alex, and now Alex is 1 year!! What a cutie!

After photographing one of my favorite anniversary sessions at Hotel Domestique with Bri & Kyle, I sat back and thought about why I just LOVE anniversary sessions so much!!
Let me clarify that I love ALL of my sessions with my couples- engagement, wedding day, anniversary, etc… BUT there is something just more relaxed about anniversary sessions!
I realized there are a few reasons why I think these are such special sessions and SO important!

You’re more comfortable with each other.

While I know you might have been relaxed on the wedding day and the engagement session, you’ve spent even more time together and have gotten to know each other even more!! You’ve been with each other a year or longer, and REALLY have each other figured out and are just more comfortable!

It’s a celebration of everything you have been through together.

You’ve been through the highest of highs, and also pretty low lows together. I quickly found out there’s a LOT to figure out in marriage that no books or pre-marital counseling can prepare you for- you have to figure it out together! But you’ve made it another year, and that’s worth celebrating. You can look back on these pictures and say things like “That was the year x happened! How cool is that??” And “Wow, we learned so much that year and look how our marriage blossomed.” Only you two will fully understand everything that happened that year, so why not celebrate by having this time preserved??

It’s more relaxed than the wedding day portraits.

On the wedding day, we have a timeline to stick too! We keep things as relaxed as possible, but still have to keep the timeline in mind to make sure your day flows well! But during your anniversary session, we aren’t on a time crunch, can explore and relax even more during it, and more! For example, Bri & Kyle did a champagne pop! When some got on Kyle’s shirt, it wasn’t a big deal at all! We had plenty of time to let it dry for the next portraits, so it wasn’t stressful or worrisome in the least!

You can have photos in your home that showcase who you really are.

While I LOVE having wedding images hung, I also think it’s important to have photos that are really the two of you. Yes, you’re dressed up, but not in a white dress and tux… you’re even more who you two are as a couple! Having these portraits through your home is so special and wonderful. I have a wedding portrait from our day I love hanging, but even more portraits not from our wedding day! I think it’s important to celebrate the days of marriage after the wedding, too! And we offer an in-person design session to all of our portrait clients to find the BEST ways to display their images through their home!! So this is all taken care of with 1 session. How special is that??

This family session in Hilton Head Island was so special! Morgan is our associate and a huge part of the CRP team!! When she said she was interested in us capturing their family portraits on their annual beach trip, I was pumped!!
I could go on and on about how much I adore the Leatherwoods. They are one of the most generous families you’ll ever meet. In the past years of being friends with Morgan, I always knew her family was there whenever needed. They always show so much love to those around them- what a gift to capture this vacation for them!!

How do you even begin to describe how special it is to take your SISTER’S bridal portraits???
Stephanie and Tommy have been dating for a few years, and we’re THRILLED they’re finally married! Their day at Edinburgh West was a dream!!
I was asked multiple times if I was photographing it, and the answer is no! I got to be her sister and matron of honor that day, BUT I did get to take her bridal portraits a couple weeks before the wedding!

Even though we didn’t get along too well as kids and into high school, in college we became fast friends. We lived together a few months before Edward and I got married, and I’ll always treasure those precious memories! We became best friends. She always had my back, and made sure people knew if they bothered me, she’d be after them!

She’s a big reason I even started dating Edward- I was really anxious about dating during that season, and she assured me he’d be a wonderful fit. She was right!!

Bri & Kyle’s Hotel Domestique Anniversary Session was a DREAM! I first met Bri in the wedding industry! She worked with an incredible planning company, and we had the privilege of working together for a beautiful wedding day! Since then, she still works in the industry in another area, but we’ve still kept up! When we started planning for her anniversary session, she mentioned she wanted something a little different and unique! And I LOVED that!
We threw around ideas, and both LOVED the idea of going to Hotel Domestique for their anniversary session! this venue is truly like no other! It looks like a slice was taken out of Europe!! And when Bri texted me pictures of her dresses, I about DIED! I always tell girls you can’t EVER get too dressed up for your portraits! Get something you feel amazing in and will love looking back on!
We explored the area and I can honestly say I’m obsessed with these two. Not only are they basically models, but they’re such fun, loving people!! They’ll have you laughing in seconds, but you can also feel the special connection they share.
I LOVE anniversary sessions for several reasons, but one of my favorites is just the relaxed comfortableness couples have with each other! We’re not on a tight time schedule so things are more flexible, and after being married for years you just “get” each other even more than the engagement session! It’s a celebration of the thick and thins traveled together, side by side. How beautiful is that??

Delayney’s bridal portrait session at the Gassaway Mansion was SO sweet!! I could go on and on about how much I just LOVE this beautiful girl. This session is SO special!! Michaela is one of our CRP shooting interns this year, and has become a close friend over the last year! I was SO honored when she asked me to photograph their wedding this September!! Along the way, she’s helped me photograph several of our couple’s weddings! She’s the sweetest light, and such a joy to be around!

She met Cale through church, and I immediately loved him! A few years ago, he reached out to me to purchase a mentoring session with me for Michaela’s birthday! How precious is that?? I’ve heard bridal portraits are more common in the south, but it’s a great time to get to wear your dress before the wedding, have extra images in it, and see how everything- hair, makeup, your dress, even your flowers look all together! So I was ecstatic when Amanda wanted to add on a bridal portrait session! Mostly because she’s one of those people I had felt instantly connected with after meeting her at her engagement session, and couldn’t wait to spend more time with her!! What a beautiful blessing it is to get to know my couples, and get to see them in the next exciting season after marriage!! Kayla and Dylan’s wedding day celebration in Columbia was just over a year ago! SO crazy!! If you’ve been on my website or following me for awhile, I can assure you you’ve seen their faces before! They’re such an amazing couple, and when they reached out about having a maternity session I was ecstatic! I take on less portrait sessions now that I focus mostly on weddings, but always do what I can when it’s a past couple! How special to get to capture this time!!

These two are just so incredibly kind. Kayla is just the sweetest, and Dylan let me know he had been practicing his nuzzling! And he killed it!! We went around the same place we had photographed most of their wedding portraits- Kayla’s aunt’s house! It’s literally a dream location with beautiful trees, a gorgeous lake the sun sets behind, and even a beautiful pool (and you better believe we used it for some shots at the end!)!

It was so special getting to see Kayla and Dylan again. Hudson is going to be such a lucky little boy having two amazing parents who are so loving and kind! I LOVE photographing bridal portraits! It means extra time spent with my brides, more pictures of them in their beautiful dress, and it’s a more controlled, less rushed time for portraits! I always get images of brides alone in their wedding dress on their wedding day, but having some extra images to display at the reception is SO special! Not only that, a wedding is the one time a bride gets to wear her beautiful dress- unless she does bridal portraits and gets some extra time wearing it! It’s also a great time for a hair and makeup trial so she can see how everything looks all together! Brittany displayed a favorite at her reception, and it was GORGEOUS!

And getting to spend this extra time with Brittany (and her sweet mom came too!), was SO special! Brittany is one of the kindest, most bubbly people! She lights up a room with her smile, and became a friend through this process! She has so much energy and just makes you feel like her friend in moments- what a gift to get to know such an amazing bride!! Her positive spirit is so clear in photos, and she looked PERFECT in her dress!!!

Brittany and TJ’s beautiful wedding day at The Farm at Ridgeway was AMAZING!! And since they’re married, I’m so excited I can finally share Mrs. Buck’s bridal portraits!! But seriously, Brittany is just such a gorgeous bride!!

So Edward and I were looking at photographers, and I reached out to them! They got back to me literally within minutes, and we set up a Skype time! I loved them, but it was REALLY important to me that Edward loved them too and felt comfortable. He’s always been a trouper about the things dating and getting engaged to a photographer entail (like SO many photo shoots- both shooting them AND being in them since most of my friends are photographers, listening to me talk about it endlessly, etc.!). So after we Skyped them, he let me know that he not only liked them but was EXCITED about them being our photographers! So that sealed the deal for me!!

But their kindness didn’t stop there. Kristy and Vic are based out of Florida, which meant someone was going to have to travel for engagement photos! I can’t tell my brides enough how important it is to have your engagement session with your wedding photographer, so it was really important for me that we got to have ours with Kristy and Vic! After chatting with them, Edward and I decided to make a little vacation out of it and fly down to Florida for it. Kristy and Vic jumped right in and said they had two guest rooms for us to stay in so there was no need for us to work out staying arrangements!! I mean, does it get any nicer?? Yes! They picked us up from the airport, we had a great lunch then had our session (the sneaks literally blew me away!!! I’ll for sure be sharing the session with y’all soon!!), and we walked into their beautiful home they just built! Our guest rooms welcomed us with brownie brittle (Edward’s favorite!!!), white cheddar popcorn (my favorite!), a cute sign we can’t wait to hang in our future home, and a mug with “Future Mrs. Robinson” on it (and I’m literally sipping coffee out of it as I type this)!

We got to have our engagement session in beautiful West Palm Beach and ended at House of Refuge, and then spent the evening chatting, eating, and watching The Office!

I SO wanted to repay them somehow for their kindness, and when we were planning this I offered to do a session for them. It ended up being perfect because their anniversary was just days apart from our time with them! So I got to do a lifestyle anniversary session for them in their brand new home they just built that’s literally a DREAM. I’m talking shiplap everywhere, beautiful white walls, SO many windows for natural light, splashes of grey and blue (my favorite color palette for homes!) and I could go on and on. Edward and I told them not to be freaked out if they ever stay with us in the future and notice some similarities in decorating because we were obsessed with their home!

The day after our session after they made us a delicious breakfast, and then we did photos of these two around their house as they snuggled together- such a perfect kind of anniversary session! We even included their pup, Peanut who’s SO cute and fun!!

I’m so excited to share these two, not only because I love how these images turned out, but because these are two incredible people.

They’re the kind of people that make you even more excited for marriage and the journey together. After six years of marriage, they constantly laugh with each other, hold hands whenever they can, and encourage each other. They simply told us over and over, “Marriage is the best.” But they not only said it, but also live that. My dream is to one day host these two back in Greenville in the years ahead!!

So enjoy this in-home lifestyle anniversary session of some very special people!! We can’t wait to give these two a huge hug on our WEDDING DAY in September!!!

One thing our family has tried to do the past years is take a vacation each summer! And we normally quickly vote BEACH! My dad has tried to throw other things into the mix (bless him for trying), but we still end up on sandy dunes with lots of sunshine!

Also, something we’ve been trying to do is take more pictures! You know the saying how the cobbler’s kids have no shoes? Ya… family photos of our own can be a struggle! But we’ve SO improved lately, even if it means some extra encouragement (and repeating the rules on the way there. Which basically summed up include listen to me and we can all get through this!)

But I’m so glad for photos during this time of crazy transition. My oldest sister has been married for 5 years to an incredible guy we all just love, and they have the cutest little 18-month old boy named Mason! And now she is pregnant with the cutest (I already know before she’s even born ;)) little girl that is due at the end of August! So the last couple years have been just filled with so excitement and joy, and I know one day we’ll be looking at these together with Mason & his little sister! It’s also a season where things change quickly! I feel like I’m Mason’s mom saying this, but I can’t believe how babies change even week to week in their first years! So capturing this season for Mason, as well as Angela who is in the last weeks before having the baby is such a special, precious time!

Also, can we talk about the fact my sister is due at the end of next month and looks AMAZING?? Like goodness. She’s just makes the cutest pregnant lady!!

Time with our family all together is just so, so special and something I’ve learned to treasure more and more!

A couple years ago I did their maternity session, and it was the FIRST session I EVER had published! They’re a couple I never could forget, and getting to take their photos again just melted my heart. I’m obsessed with all of Keily’s outfits, and she has the most gorgeous smile!! They’re so sweet and into each other, and I keep forgetting this is an anniversary instead of an engagement session!!

But let me share a little about Stephanie. She’s a TON of fun, she cares deeply about others, and she is one of those people who could make a trip to CVS the greatest trip of your life. There was one day we were doing a shoot at Anthropologie the morning before I had class. It came to the time I’d have to head out and not miss my 9:30am, and she looked at me and said, “Christa, if you stay, I will buy you an Anthropologie necklace.” I got a lot of wear out of that necklace But shoots with her are always an adventure!

And while most of our shoots include fashion or lifestyle shots, this one was different! Because this shoot wasn’t about promoting another brand, or sharing what incredible things she’s done to remodel her home, or what life is like being mama to a toddler. This shoot was about HER and her growing family. And that’s more important than anything!

So here’s the first of many shoots to come about her next little one!! And Stephanie absolutely KILLED it in her dress! Not to mention it was absolutely freezing with the wind, and you’d never know! We also did it in about 15 minutes (new record??)!

It was such a joy getting to photograph my own family, even if I did have to lay some ground roles down before-hand including “No, I don’t use a camera strap, but reminding me every few seconds not to drop my camera won’t be appreciated.” But we did have a lot of fun! I really do love my family, and it was nice getting a beach picture together after a few years!

Our newest addition, Mason was SO good for photos! He’s almost always smiling and seriously has the cutest little laugh. I can’t help but smile looking at these pictures of him!! He’s stolen Angela & Phil’s and my entire family’s heart, and Stephanie and I are already the coolest aunts ever! Aunt Christa is slightly cooler, but you know

I really treasure these pictures to capture the memories we have together! I mostly shot Angela and Philip since they haven’t had some professional pictures with Mason done, and that’s just wrong! They were so perfect, and I love every single picture of them!!

I was so excited when the Felders contacted me about their family photos! And their downtown Greenville, SC family session turned out so beautifully!

They might look familiar from last fall when we did a mini session together, and now with their little one growing fast and having a birthday, I got to photograph them again! I never realized how quick babies grow until watching my little nephew change so much every month! I feel so old saying they grow so fast… but it’s true!

This little family is a favorite, and I’m in love with their preppy style and and sweet personalities! I was telling them if I have a family in the future, my goal is to be as well dressed as them! Here’s some of my absolute favorites from their downtown Greenville, SC family session!

I love the Gfeller’s downtown Greenville, SC family session! This family has such a special place in my heart. They were one of the very first families I photographed when I first started photography over 3 years ago! The 2 girls were so little then, and it’s been an absolute joy photographing them throughout the last few years, watching them grow! Plus, how on earth can you take a bad picture of this family??

They’re one of the sweetest families you’ll ever meet, with such incredibly well-behaved kids, and photographing them again filled my heart with so much joy! They’re so beautiful on the inside and out, and I view them as a beautiful example as to what a family should be like, and what a great example parents can be to their kids!

It’s been an insane time of year with the end of school for the semester, and when I photographed this family, it just made me love my job even more!! They have such a sweet, genuine love for each other, and I felt like I was photographing an engagement session when I was photographing Ben & Tracie!

Last summer, Stephanie contacted me about doing some photos for her for blogging. Since then we’ve done at least half a dozen sessions together, and her blog has kept on growing rapidly! She’s become a great friend, and I’ve fallen in love with her little family! Steph saw a recent session and had to have the old red truck, so we set up a little styled shoot complete with a Christmas tree, marshmallows, and lots of blankets!! And it’s an absolute favorite!!! I love seeing her and Justin together and an so inspired by their relationship. They’re both very driven, very hard-working people, and together they’re definitely a power team!! And it’s always fun photographing little Tate That little boy always makes my day when I see him!
