BURNT OUT TO 6 FIGURES- MY STORY

Burnt Out to 6-Figures- My Story

Welcome to the very first episode of The Uncapped Photographer Podcast! In this episode, I’m sharing how I got started in my photography journey, and the SCARY steps I took to finally uncap my income & offerings!

My story starts how most photographer’s stories start. I bought my very first camera in high school and tried to photograph as many people as I could, and continued to get better and better.

During college, I juggled my classes, another job, and photography, all while absorbing as much education as I possibly could. I was actively learning and trying to invest back into my business and into myself so I could continue to grow and become a better photographer, and I 100% believe that that’s why I was able to scale as quickly as I did.

In my early days of photography, I made the decision to specialize in wedding photography, however, I reached a point where I felt stuck and burnt out. This is why I decided to hire a mentor, and she encouraged me to add in portraits while still doing weddings, giving my clients an elevated experience.

This transition was scary for me, having already spent six years in the industry, but it proved to be life-changing. Not only did I find a renewed passion for my business, but I knew these photos would actually go up in my clients’ houses rather than being in a Facebook album, I created amazing relationships with my clients, and my income just skyrocketed.

Eventually, I ended up having a friend come and encourage me to start coaching other photographers on how to add in portraits, so last year I began coaching other photographers how to have the same setup in their business and it’s been incredible.

So many things can happen when you are running your business rather than your business running you. You don’t need to be busy all the time to make a sustainable photography income. It’s so possible and I’m so glad you’re here to learn how.

In this episode, we chat about:

  • When I got my very first camera
  • Juggling college, a job, AND photography
  • Why I chose to originally nice down and just focus on weddings
  • How I was able to bring portraits back into my business and what that did for my life and my business
  • Why I decided to start coaching other photographers
