Make 2019 the Best Year Ever | Education for Business Owners

We made it! 2018 has ended, and a new year is approaching! What better time to get extra motivated, than right before a new year?? Let’s make 2019 the BEST year yet! Here are a few ways to do this!

Set goals!

Set goals for the year! Make annual, monthly, weekly, and daily goals, and WRITE THEM DOWN! I had two BIG goals for this year I was really unsure about. I achieved BOTH, and have no doubt a big part of it was I had set and written them down! Buy yourself a little notebook, or if you need it more structured look into Laura Casey’s Power Sheets, and decide what goals you are going to hit! Remember- write down even the small ones! It’s little changes that can make a BIG difference in business & life! Also, make goals for both personal & business! Your business can only go so far if you aren’t focused on also having a strong personal life!

Set habits for yourself!

Ready to really implement your goals? Start making things a HABIT. Maybe it’s to reach out to a fellow wedding vendor to network every month. Maybe it’s getting up a little earlier to get a go on work. Maybe it’s to read a business or personal development book every month. Setting new habits that align with the goals you’ve set can be a really big aid to growth!

Look at your numbers from 2018.

Maybe this was your first year in business! Maybe it was your 10^th! But take a review of your numbers. What is your business spending a lot of money on that it could cut back on? What were the areas your business did really well in? If you’re a wedding photographer, look at what you’re actually making from sessions and weddings after expenses and taxes. This will make it easier to set financial goals for 2019 as well! But be sure to really know how your business is actually doing before going into 2019!

Plan your direction for 2019.

Maybe you were still trying to figure out what direction to push your business. Maybe you’re a photographer still photographing kids, families, weddings, birthday parties, cake smashes, family reunions, newborns… you get it! Take this time to look back on 2018 at what you really thrived doing. Let’s make this year a time to narrow things down so you can charge at the things you’re really good at instead of everything!

Look at what worked, and what didn’t work!

It’s ok to look back and say, “That was worth a try, but not for me!” But what’s not okay is to say that and then do it over again!

Also, if something went amazing, do it more in 2019! I was SO nervous about hosting a wedding workshop. Turned out I LOVED it. It was something that fueled me, made an impact, and I already can’t wait to do another one in 2019!

Review your “why.”

Before things get busy with the new year, review why you’re doing what you’re doing! There will be seasons things get hard- like really hard! Times you think about quitting. Or you scroll through social media, start comparing, and get discouraged. When that happens, your “why” needs to be so forward in your mind you stop yourself right when your mind goes down that path! This will help you AND your business go forward!

Invest in yourself.

I don’t think It’s any coincidence that the year I really invested in my business was the year that it really became stronger! There’s so much knowledge and inspiration you can gain from others! If you’ve been waiting for someone to tell you it’s ok to invest in yourself- here it is! I’m telling you to!! Investing in yourself does come back and pay for itself! Make sure you invest in the right education: “Never take advice from someone you wouldn’t trade places with.” ― Darren Hardy

But when there is that person you know you could learn SO much from and are where you’d love your business to be, investing is worth it!
